Congratulations to Anthony John (A.J.) Gerzina who successfully was graded to Junior 5th kyu.
His performance was steady through the night.
And as such did well by himself and therefore his his school and instructors.

S.K.A. Gathering 25/8/2012.
This was a session conducted by Sensei’s Dave Weatherstone and Phil Morton. These are two long term old training partners who conducted a very interesting and informative session on strength of stance, blocking, parrying and evasion.
While they each led a session, they very much blended and worked together like a well oiled machine. This was not only appreciated, but reminded us all about our basics.
This was preceded by a kids session where all students had the benefit of one to one training from the black belts present. This started with how to utilise both front and rear hook stance in preparation for attacking with back and side kicks. Then each sensei taught at the individual students level.
The sparring was spirited at times, but controlled. All in all, a succesfull day.
In late October I and Luke Bottle and I will be travelling to S.A. to visit and train with Kym Reid and his students. (This is my holiday).
I must say we are both looking forward to visiting our karate family and enjoying ourselves
While there we will also, on Sunday 28th take part in the “Fight for Life” campaign to raise money to fight cancer.
This is an event involving many different Martial Arts styles coming together for one common purpose.
This is an interstate effort created by Kevin Walsh in honour of a Martial Artist by the name of Wendy Carrol Who passed to the next cycle of existence 8th August.
The site for information is http://www.facebook.com/events/484193628276069
The S.A. event which we will support is being organised by Kym. There is another event in Victoria in November.
WARNING! In S.A. there is an individual who is deliberately redirecting people from the event to his own with an event recently placed on the same day -has posted details on the SA Fight for Life 2012 facebook event page. Such thing are not honourable acts and should be ignored completely.
Regards – Littlejohn.

For the following adult class we were again joined by our friend Darryn Reid 3rd Dan of Ross Jacksons Tang Soo Do Karate. who has been visiting recently and exchanging knowledge. What is a Master and what does it mean.
That is a question that gives me much pause for this is now my rank / title.
Obviously an individual gets to this point only after many years of training (That is if matters are correct) and called to (not asked for) because of ability and activity proven over much time and many tests, but is that the end, the culmination? Should there then be resting on ones laurels and say that the mountain has been climbed?
Would that not be an exercise in stagnation and result in futility?
The true mountain never end’s, it is always in front of me and always will be as long as I live. So, I choose to continue to learn and climb and grow to the best of my ability. I see no point otherwise. Since I am now almost 61 years young, investigating M.M.A. would not be a wise move on my part. So I need look elsewhere for meaningful study – so I will try to follow the natural path as I see it.
For to justify my Rank to myself I must continue to grow so I can offer and deliver more, for with further Rank comes further responsability.
AT THIS POINT - I must thank Master Vladimir Pijov the last direct active member of the original Blacktown School and present President of S.K.A.
Without whom I would not be in the position I am.
Vladimir has taught me much over the years and mentored me through dark days and fine.
Without Vladimir's support and direction I and others would not have been able to continue and Australia's oldest School would have died.
My master, my Giri to you is immense.
